What I Do As an independent real estate broker and Realtor, I am able to provide all of the services that you would expect from a traditional real estate agent, with some additional advantages.  As a member of the Regional Multiple Listing Service of Minnesota, I have full access to show and represent my clients in the purchase of any listing offered by any real estate brokerage in the state of Minnesota.  Since I am not affiliated with a large company, I am under no pressure to show or sell any homes other than those that are the best for my clients.  In addition, my sellers’ listings are shared and searchable through all of my competitor’s home search websites including Edina Realty, Coldwell Banker Burnet, RE/MAX, Keller Williams, TheMLSOnline, and dozens of others.  As an independent broker, the only person I report to is my client.  As a result, my buyers and sellers are never exposed to the dangers of dual agency, and they avoid paying the higher fees charged by the large companies.

My Background Upon graduating from law school, I had imagined myself practicing law in a small firm helping individuals with challenging situations in the interest of making their lives better.  After taking a job with a well-known personal injury law firm, I quickly realized the work wasn’t exactly what I had hoped for.  I found that I spent more time working on paperwork than I spent actually dealing with clients.  To make things worse, the type of casework I handled often made for an unhappy experience for my clients, regardless of the outcome.

As an alternative to working in a law firm, I obtained my real estate broker’s license and went to work representing buyers and sellers of residential real estate.  I was pleased to discover that the experience I had gained in negotiation at the law firm combined with my legal training in contracts, real estate, and representation translated very well to the work of real estate.  As an added benefit, I found myself spending my time working directly with individuals in transactions that they actually enjoyed being a part of.

In 2005, I founded my own company, Metro Home Connection Realty.  As an independent broker, I was able to set up my company in the way I believe a real estate company should be run.  I’ve always hated hard-selling, in-your-face salespeople, so we don’t operate that way.  When working with buyers, we see our role as simply helping them to find right home and negotiate the best deal.  When working with sellers, we’re there to expose the property to the maximum number of qualified buyers and to obtain the best price and terms.  I believe the fact that I’ve come to this industry from a representation background rather than a sales background has created an improved experience and better results for my clients.
